Urge Incontinence

Symptoms: You may have Urge Incontinence if you have an overwhelming need to urinate and are unable to get to a toilet before leaking a large amount of urine.  

Cause:  Urge Incontinence is usually caused by damage to the nerve pathways from the bladder to the brain.  Stroke, dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis can all cause Urge Incontinence.  Urge Incontinence is also associated with Overactive Bladder (see below).

Treatments: A variety of treatments are available including behavior modification, pelvic muscle strengthening, medications and neuromodulation. Outpatient neuromodulation with Urgent PC provides a minimally-invasive alternative without the side-effects of drugs.
