About Urinary Incontinence

Types of Urinary Incontinence
Incontinence signals a change in the body’s function.  In some cases, it is the result of natural changes that occur over time such as the weakening of pelvic floor muscles, pelvic ligaments, and connective tissues in women, or may result from therapies designed to treat enlargement of the prostate gland in men.  In other cases, it is a result of injury or an indication of a more serious problem.

The main types of urinary incontinence are as follows. Click the links below to learn more:

Stress Urinary Incontinence
Leakage of small amounts of urine during physical activity

Urge Incontinence
Leakage of urine at unexpected times due to inability to control your urge to urinate

Overactive Bladder
Urinary frequency and urgency, often accompanied by Urge Incontinence

Mixed Incontinence
Usually a combination of Stress Urinary Incontinence and Urge Incontinence

Overflow Incontinence
Unexpected leakage of small amounts of urine due to a full bladder
